Blog finally open…I`m Freaking out…FREE STUFF…

Whew!

Blogging is cool, right? (Yeeeaaa!)

There are lots of folks out there saying it`s supposed to be easy and FAST to put up a blog and start writing…(I´m talking about self-hosted worpress blogs here btw…)

THEY say things like: “Just go to your cpanel and hit the “fantastico” and it`s installed in seconds…”

Well, I agree so far…

Then they continue “login, choose your blog theme (or download one) and begin to write!”

Sure sounds easy! Just go and do it!

Well, That`s bullsh*t if you ask me! (sorry `bout my tone but you`ll understand me soon…)

You know, I`ve been setting up my blog for a week and to be honest, it has been quite a pain! Well, I could`ve hired someone to desing me a cool blog and set everything up but what`s the point? I want to do stuff on my own and learn…

Okay, I didn`t want those basic templates `cause they suck if you ask me…I mean, the basic theme with gigantic blue header with white text size of an elephant on it…NO FREAKING WAY!

I searched for a ´perfect` template for hours but I didn`t found anything that matched my criteria…and besides I wanted to have my own header on my blog…so I decided to design my own theme.

I bought one pretty cool wysiwyg software and after about 3-4 hours of work I got my theme ready to roll!

I uploaded my theme and I was steamed up! Hooray, Now all I have to do is write some stuff!

Guess what?

When I loaded my blog for a first time to check it out It had some ugly looking title text standing in front of my header! I wanted to get rid of a title text and tagline! it was obvious that If I remove the description from my admin area, the problem will go away. (sigh…) What I discovered is this: If I remove the title, my blog is not search engine friendly anymore and it causes problems with rss and stuff…

…and this followed: couple of hours more work to search how to properly hide my text and tag!

oh yeah, one more thing about blogs: They don`t use html so much, they use XHTML and it`s all greek to me!

But I managed to hide the title text and stuff but then I figured out I need to have rss on my blog also…and all of these bookmarking things and I need to set up my permalinks so they don`t look like crap…

You know, It took me a whole week to set up my blog and I`m not even finished yet…But at the moment I really don`t care! I`ve done lots of work with this and I need a break!

I want to show you a really ugly photo of me freaking out so you understand better:

Yeah, that`s me Freaking out!

Yeah, that`s me Freaking out!

Sorry If I scared you but that`s how I feel right now…I really need some rest…so I can actually write some stuff on my blog…

BE WARNED: if someone is telling you “It`s easy and fast to set up a blog…”

…I say: “You can go and create a blog really fast…but this is what you`ll get: crappy looking blog with the Blue giant header!”

I don`t know how much I need to recover (No kidding, I´m exhausted…) So I better give you some FREE STUFF you can read while waiting my next post!

Okay, this is really cool stuff and you don`t need to opt-in or anything to get it!

Thanks for reading and take care,

    hey Lauri,
its always difficult to do the first Blog. Your start is a little bit absurd and does have the appearence of joking and not an honest page. It still looks like crab contrary your text.
Do you have a site to let others write their Blogs?
This page does not cover the intentions of other blogging friends??
I like to give you and your friends an very attractive offer.
Read everything word by word klick the link and stop all the other trials for how to get rich projects.
    sincerely Peter

Your pop up advertisment for 100Million is very disturbing. Alot of swearing in your first blog, well, if that is you , that is you ! Hope to come back for more ! best regards,

    Hello,
what a surprise to read the story about setting up a BLOG!?
I have tried to so since a few days now, but I got stuck due to the
socalled FANTASTICO icon which I could not trace at my cpanel screen.
I kept trying to get help but there is no reply from that guy by the name of Rob Benwell from whom I got the link to the thing.
Neither I found any support possibility at Hostazar
and emails to them are bouncing.
So you may not be surprised to read my comments and to read that I would be happy to find some help for progress.
I am not an expert I admit, but I am “working” on the net since some years now so I feel I am not a complete Newbee(-Idiot)
Any assistance where and how to find help is highly appreciated.
    Look forward you early news
    Kind regards
    Johannes

    Lauri,
You’ve done an outstanding job, regardless of the trouble it took to launch.
Getting a blog “just right” is tough…especially when that blog has a huge job to perform—generating perpetual income while educating readers.
Thanks for sharing. It helps us as affiliates understand the processes more clearly.

  5. November 17th, 2008 at 11:49 | #5

    Thanks for your comments folks!

I´m still testing out this blog and it`s cool to get your feedback!

I removed the $100M ad…(even if it`s all about really cool free training by Russell Brunson)

Johannes, Fantastico button should be located at “Software/services” at your cpanel…

  6. November 17th, 2008 at 12:00 | #6

    Hey Lauri,
Good to hear from you and congratulations on your new blog !
I started one myself on Fantastico (the ugly one with big blue header) but gave up after 2 posts. I intend to start a new one with Worpress theme. It seems that if you want to stay on top of things you just need one (and not only one, some are using hunderds of blogs to SEO support niche sites).
Anyway, don’t pull your hair too much over this one, otherwise I would have to send you my affiliate link for hair growth lotion ;-)

  7. November 17th, 2008 at 13:51 | #7

You’ve just said it the way it should be said.
Frankly I wondered sometimes why a lot of folks
wants to make others believe that setting up a
blog is such an easy thing to do!

Yeah, if you just want to install and run with
the free themes you can do that in a matter of minutes.
However, if you want something different from others you
    need to do some work.

I’ve set up over 7 different blogs and none took me
less than two days. In fact some took over 2 weeks! I love
reworking every free theme download. Just doing makes it
some different from the pack out there.

Lauri, I must congratulate you on this. If you really
designed this yourself then very soon be ready to
    produce some commercial themes :)

This really is a great work. I truly LOVE it.

  8. November 17th, 2008 at 13:55 | #8

    @Meirav -

Thanks! Let Me know when you get your blog up and running and I`ll check it out!

Hey, I´ve still got lotsa hair to pull…but if I begin to run out a hair, I`ll let you know and you`ll get a sale for your hair growth lotion :)

Hi and thanks for your comment, but believe me thereis no such a
FANTASTICO icon on my cpanel or I cannot see the alternative there
I just have 6 icons there but there is no icon similar to FANTASTICO
    Any solution for that?
    Regards
    Johannes

LOL! I really enjoyed coming here. Starting a blog really isn’t that easy. I took things the easy way and started a blogger account bout month ago and the blog still has many features missing… But I do enjoy writing there. It is pretty easy.

  11. November 18th, 2008 at 03:54 | #11

Ha…Ha… I have already feel like you, stuck with blog or site or whatever. I tried to build my website at Oktober 2008, till now my site still boring… maybe you would come to bali for taking a rest, so your face will refresh anymore. And for Johannes you can find Fantastico at yoursite.com/cpanel – Software/Services you can find Fantastico Deluxe if you still can find it till now. Thanks Lauri.

That`s really strange if you`re missing fantastico at you cpanel!

    Well, there`s also another option:
Go to http://wordpress.org/download/ and download the latest WP.
Basically what you do is upload it to your server and configure…

There`s also a lil installation guide on the site above.

I hope you get your blog up with this advice.

Thanks for your comment! Yeah, blogger is really easy to set up and but Self-hosted wp blogs rank better in se`s…in fact, some dudes say the free blogs are dying :(

…Still, I just happened to read a very cool book about monetizing free blogger blogs;) I`m going to test out the method when I have time and see if it works…

  14. November 18th, 2008 at 08:28 | #14

@LauriNiskasaari – Could be. I rank rather well in Google and Google is my way to go for the moment and since. But yeah self-hosted blogs do rank better. And I have long-term plans for my blog which I’ve been promoting only a moment now. It’s more about promoting me and my “inventions” than making money with the blog itself or thru sales pitches in the posts.
