How to queue your follow up messages to autoresponder

Okay, once you have written your follow up email, you need to load it up to your autoresponder.

This is how it goes with aweber: click Messages ==> Follow up

And then click add new follow up message:

And then you`ll get to add the headline and choose if you want to choose html or plain text template for your email.

This is how it looks like:

I almost always use html template (basic template).

This is because html template allows you to track open rates for your email and add nice-looking tracking links to my emails.

…and If you use plain text template, you can`t track open rates and if you want to track clicks, the link looks ugly (and long).

The thing is, if you want to add a link to affiliate product using html template, you can make it look like it`s not affiliate link at all…All you need to do is click insert / edit hyperlink button:

And then you`ll come up with the box where you fill in the details of your link:

…and You can enter something like “Check this out” to link text section to make your link look good.

For example you have a product you want to promote and you`ve got affiliate url like:  http://xxxxx.xxxxx.hop.clickbank.net/  you can enter something like “check this out” as text and you`ve just created a good-looking clickable link that doesn`t look like affiliate link.

So instead of giving out ugly looking affiliate link (that no-one wants to click) your link looks nice and like part of your email content. This is a good way to increase your click through rates.

After that you`ll need to enter how many days after your previous follow-up message you want your current message to be sent.

Also remember to check the Track links box so you can see how many clicks you get:

After that you can preview and save your message and you`re all set. Pretty easy, right?

How to design and monetize your follow-up messages

Okay, in this post I will show you how to format your follow up email so it`s easy to read and I`ll show you how to monetize the messages in a way that you`ll make money without selling.

You`ll be writing Content-based emails so you won`t hard-sell anything. Just write good content so your subscribers begin to see you as valuable source they can trust.

So, let`s get going…

Okay, formatting your email is very important because if your email is hard to read, you give unprofessional impression and your subscribers don`t bother to read what you are saying…

I mean, when you write your email messages, you should have enough “white space” in your email messages.

I`ll demonstrate this with the “lorem ipsum” dummy text…

1. Without white space:

“Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. 2. With white space:

“Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit,

As you can see, example 1 is pretty hard to read and your eyes don`t have time to rest.

Example 2 demonstrates how much difference white space can make. White space gives the eye a chance to rest, and it`s very important when you write online document.

Physical offline documents like books and newspapers are quite easy to read even if they have text close together but online documents need to be designed in a different way.

It`s a proven fact that it`s harder for out eyes to look at computer monitor than offline document and that`s why people don`t want to read emails that are not formatted the right way; It`s simply not easy to read!

To make your email easier to read, you should have white space and text breaks in your email messages.

What you should do is write as short sentences as you can and add text breaks (white space) between paragraphs.

I usually write paragraphs that contain two or three sentences and then add text break…

When you write email messages, make sure you send a test email to your own email address to see everything looks fine and it`s easy to read.

Next you should monetize your email message but you`ll do it without selling. As you remember, people don`t like to be sold…

But if you give valuable information away and close out your email message with “additional resource” in form of affiliate link,  people will be interested in checking out that link and you`ll have a high chance of making sales.

Basically All you need to do is add a P.S. at the end of the content email and watch what happens.

So, if you write email follow up, this is how it should look like:

Hey firstname,

So, what you do is add a P.S. at the bottom of your email. But there`s a catch…

If you write about web hosting, for example, you should recommend a web hosting company you are using or ebook that tells about setting up hosting and website…and of course you should give out your affiliate link so you`ll make money in the process :)

So, Your P.S. or signature line Should go hand in hand with the content you write and you`ll see people clicking through your link

and if we use the web hosting as example, your P.S. should be something like this:

P.S. You want to know where I host my sites?
—and your link here—

Don`t hard sell anything here. Just put out your affiliate link as additional resource for your subscribers.

Oh, and you shouldn`t write too long emails (or blog posts) because your subscribers want to get info fast!  Keep your emails short but informative and you`ll be doing great!

How to Write awesome autoresponder follow-up emails part 2 / 2

Okay, now you need to use your autoresponder to build relationship with your subscribers.(and make money later on…)

So, how do you create helpful content to your subscribers…and what if you`re a complete newbie who has nothing to teach?

Actually, writing good content is very easy.

First, if you`re a complete newbie and you have been online only for few months, you have this nagging feeling that you have nothing to teach to others. Well, you`re all wrong! In those few months you have learned something, haven`t you? You know much more than someone who started today!

Just make a list of things you have learned.

  • What mistakes have you made online since you started? (that have cost you money)
  • What products you have tried that helped you out?
  • What services have you tried?
  • Where have you been searching for help?
  • Who has been helping you out?

You must have learned something…even if you started today! You have learned something by reading this blog and you can use it to provide content to your readers.

But what if you have something you can`t figure out yourself and you need help in finding answers to your questions, or questions your subscribers may be asking?

How can you help your subscribes if you don`t know anything about some specific subject?

Okay, if you need help with a specific subject…or if you need help in general, I suggest you join Warrior Forum right away…

(If you`re niche is not Internet marketing -based, do a google search for a forum that`s targeted for your niche)

Warrior Forum is full of internet marketing pros who are happy to answer your questions and help you out. All you need to do is ask for guidance for your specific issue and you will get answers.

That`s what I do myself!  If I´m not sure about something and need help, I`ll log in to WF and shoot away my question, and in most cases I get awesome answers that I can use to provide content. All I need to do is ASK. So you better click here to join warrior forum

And once you`ve got answers to your questions, you can use those answers to provide a real, useful information to your subcsribers! It`s very easy and you are also learning new stuff you in the process.

All you do is share your personal experience about things you`ve tried and there you have it; good content your subscribers can use.

There`s also another resource I use when I seek for help and it`s called Ezinearticles.com

It`s article site where you can find tons of articles to learn useful things. If you want to know about email marketing you only do a search with that term and you`ll see a list of articles you can use to learn more about it…

Actually I did a search for the term “Email Marketing” and here are the results:

All you need to do is find the juiciest tips and try out those tips. After that you can use it to write helpful content for your readers. Learn, learn and learn! That`s the key to providing good content.

So, It`s quite easy to provide good content. Basically, Once you learn something, you share your personal experience with it to your subscribers. That`s all you need to do.

Okay, now you know how to produce a content-based email and I suggest you start producing your content right away. Use your favourite word processor and write up few good articles you can use with your autoresponder…Just write with your own style and you`ll be doing great!

How to Write awesome autoresponder follow-up emails part 1 / 2

In this blog post I`ll show you how to write autoresponder follow-up emails to create relationship with your subscribers so they can`t wait to read your next email.

First, here are some basic rules of relationship marketing with autoresponder:

  • Provide useful information. Don’t send a message out only when you want to promote something.
  • Ask what your subscribers want and need. One of the best ways to get good relationship with your subscriber is to simply ask them: “How can I help you?” and after that give them what they need.
  • Send Gifts. Give away free reports, free templates, free software…You can use tradebit.com to find lots of unrestricted private label rights ebooks, software and articles. You can do pretty much anything you want with those products (just make sure you check out the rights) Just do a search at tradebit.com with keyword “PLR” and you`ll come up with lots of stuff you can give away (and put your name as author…)
  • Let them know you`re a human. Tell them about your personal side of life…let them know you`re not perfect and you`ve made mistakes and learned from them…You can also share something about your personal life if you will. Just let them see you`re a human, not another “sales robot” talking about new product launches.
  • Educate your readers. If you write emails in form of free lessons, tips and tricks your subscribers will fall in love with you.  They will see you as a their mentor and friend and they will happily read your emails….And later on they will also happily read emails where you recommend a product or service you suggest them to check out.

So, that`s very basic stuff but it`s very powerful. If you just apply those few rules above, your subscribers will fall in love with you and once you recommend affiliate product or service, they will check it out because it`s YOU who recommended that product. That`s because they have learned that you are valuable source and you send only good stuff that`s worth of checking out!

Now you know the basics and I suggest you read the list above again so you REALLY get the point…

Setting up Autoresponder and Creating your first follow-up email

Okay, I´ll point out few things about getting started with autoresponder.

First, I use aweber and I really don`t have any interest  on changing my autoresponder. (Yeah, they are awesome, that`s why… and in case you don`t already have autoresponder, click here to check out aweber…)

…And I don`t know if other AR`s have the same functions…But let`s get started and you should get the point.

After you`ve created your list at your autoresponder, you should customize your “confirm message”.

With aweber it`s done by clicking My lists ==> Confirmed opt-in:

And as you click you will see this:

You should customize the subject line first…

This is my subject line with my secret paypal cash list:

— {!firstname_fix}, Confirm your request for Secret PayPal Cash -report —

the {!firstname_fix} inserts first name of the subscriber to the message and I suggest you personalize your message.  Customizing your subject line is important!

Next you have “Intro” box and the main reason for this intro is to get people click the “confirm” link so they will opt-in to your list. This is the message I use with my secret paypal cash:

“Hey {!firstname}. I received your request for
`Secret PayPal Cash` -report (Value $67)

Before you get to download your report, you need to confirm
your email address and make sure it`s really YOU who
requested this information.

All you need to do is click the link below to confirm and
you`ll receive your Secret PayPal Cash report to your inbox…

Again, You`re welcome to use my intro message as your template. Just edit it out to fit your needs…

The final thing at this page is to edit out “confirmation success page”:

In earlier blog post I discussed about setting up confirm / thankyou / download pages. (You can see that blog post by clicking here…)

In short, What you need to do is set up a page where people will be redirected after they click the confirm link…You can see my “confirmation success page” by clicking here… That page makes me nice amount of extra money so it`s well worth of setting up a page like that! You can download the template for the exact page I´m using by clicking here… All you need to do is edit it out with your  info and add affiliate link to product you wish to promote and your all set…

Okay, Once you`ve set up your redirects, you need to obviously have a follow-up message where you give your download link to your free report.

If you use aweber, go to Messages ==> Follow up => Add new follow up message:

I use this very simple email as my Welcome email with my secret paypal cash report:

First, subject line:

{!firstname_fix}, Download Link For Secret PayPal Cash -report

…and this is the actual content:

Hey {!firstname_fix} and welcome aboard!

My Name is Lauri Niskasaari and I´m author of several ebooks and reports
and I run numerous of websites including:
www.DeadliestAffiliateWeapon.com
www.FreakingHugeList.com and
www.ExchangeInferno.com

Anyway, my main motivation is to help people make money online
